First of all, I am not a shill. I'm like you; I'm an endeavours, somewhat ignorant, espresso enthusiast desperately searching Amazon for an economical espresso machine. I searched high and low for a machine that was under $200 and would not explode, soon break, or produce "weak" espresso. This machine, although lacking in reviews, fits the bill. It is sleek in appearance, efficient in start-up time (about 45 seconds), and impressive in terms of espresso strength and milk-frothing-ability (that's right, I hyphenated that).

This machine replaced our Krups Espresso Maker of 25 years. I had a good idea what I wanted in a machine and right out of the box this one filled the bill.My inaugural espresso was better than the Krups of 25 years. Don't have any reason why but the taste was better, the creme fuller and less mess. Probably because it is a new machine and everything is better with a new toy. The tamper is pretty ingenious - will probably save on coffee in the long term simply because you fill it, rotate the handle until it stops and push the coffee button. I'm going to miss tamping the coffee as with the past machine - part of the process I suppose. The push button coffee cake ejector didn't work so well - still tapped the holder to release it - wasn't really expecting some new innovation.Though a bit more than I would have liked to spend on an espresso machine, if it lasts as long as the previous Krups it will be well worth the investment.As a side note - the espresso this machine makes is great and it will take some serious will power to limit myself to my once a day cup of coffee.Update: 10/22/2012This has been a great machine ..... until the handle broke this morning. Called Krups and they were great in researching the part number (MS-622892). I found replacements at [...] for $24.99 so I ordered two of them. The customer service rep (Stacey) at Krups mentioned they would send one out as a courtesy if they could find one. You just have to appreciate that kind of service. I just faxed them my order from Amazon and hopefully they'll come through. If not, I know there are two more coming anyway.All in all, still really enjoy the machine, and having found a weak spot - have acted accordingly.

I have a refurbished Krups that I took to work. Loved it and wanted one for home and work, so got the new one for home. Self stamping is a timesaver in the morning. Steaming not noisy and creates beautiful foam as long as u remember not to touch the bottom of the pitcher with the wand...creates bubbles that way. Very easy to use , even for first timer.
