Saeco S-TT-ST Talea Touch Super-Automatic Espresso Machine

Product Description

With 15-bars of pump pressure, this super-automatic espresso machine's innovative brewing system allows for creating an infinite variety of coffee drinks from just one machine. Simply turning the dial either right or left changes the strength and consistency of coffee by either increasing or decreasing the water pressure moving through the grounds. The espresso maker automatically grinds the right amount of coffee, tamps, brews, and dispenses used grounds into an internal dregdrawer, all at the touch of a button. The Black and white touch screen technology is an exclusive innovation available for the Talea Touch. Thanks to its graphic display and icons, you can prepare coffee and your favorite drinks with minimal effort, in just a few minutes. Sensitive Touch Technology not only gives the machine it¿s up-to-date look, but it also makes it easier to use. The special icons give clear, instant details for each function. In addition, the espresso machine's adjustable built-in ceramic disc grinder provides a more even grind, allowing for perfect dosing and blending, plus it operates considerably quieter than stainless-steel grinders. The unit's OptiDose system has an adjustable 7- to 10-1/2-gram doser for regulating the amount of beans to grind per serving, and its aroma system injects hot water into ground coffee to maximize flavor extraction. Especially convenient if a guest wants decaffeinated espresso, the espresso machine comes with a pre-ground bypass doser. Simply pour the pre-ground decaffeinated or flavored coffee into the pre-ground coffee funnel without having to empty the beans in the grinder. The espresso machine also supplies a stainless-steel pannarello attachment for steaming milk or dispensing hot water, as well as a stainless-steel boiler system with rapid-steam technology, which means no waiting between frothing milk and brewing espresso.

1Don't buy
By smokejumper
The Talea Touch makes terrific coffee and has functions that are well thought out and easy to use. The only problem is that they can't make one that works.I bought mine in Dec. 2009 from Seattle Coffee Gear. By March 2010, I had returned my third defective machine to Saeco. All three had different problems; the first leaked all over the counter when brewing (an internal hose defect), the second could not be programmed or hold a date and time; the third has a steam wand that leaked (poured) water during the brew cycle - enough to fill a shot glass for each coffee made. As of September, I have had to return it two additional times for repairs - a total of 5 times.Saeco will fix or replace this again but what does that tell you about their QC? Saeco customer service has been helpful and courteous - once you reach them. Be prepared to wait > 45 minutes on their customer support line to reach a human being.Saeco came highly recommended and it does makes great coffee and lattes when it works. If you like Audi's, this may be the coffee machine for you.One last note, I have attempted to submit this review many times at Seattle Coffee gear and somehow it never appears on their website.

4So far very glad I have it
By D. Malkin
Maybe it is a little premature and I admit I was spooked by the negative reviews, but so far I have been very happy with Talea Touch. I bought it refurbished, not from Amazon but from an auction site (you know which one) and took out an extended SquareTrade warranty. It took little to no time to prime the water circuit, make custom adjustments to the grind and strength of the shot but it resulted in amazing espresso. Prior to this, I was using a Starbucks (Saeco) Barista espresso machine with a de-pressurized portafilter along with Ascaso I-mini grinder to make my espressos/lattes/cappuchinos. Despite reading coffeegeek and Home-barista.com, adjusting the grind/tamp/temp surfing techniques, my pulls were still resulting in shots too sour or too bitter. I was considering buying a higher-end espresso machine and PID kit for better temp control, but realized that I was spending way too much time in the morning griding/dosing/pulling and cleaning when I and my wife just want the d*** coffee. Yes, with Talea touch you do have to clean the group head, descale etc. Yes, the water reservoir could be bigger, the milk island could be cheaper (don't have one), the spent water/coffee puck reservoir could be a bit bigger as well... but when it comes to shot quality, it was on par with the shots I had in Italy or local Stumptown. And it takes less than 5 minutes to pull a shot. So far I am very happy with the purchase. Durability remains a concern so I will update the review accordingly.

5Great do it all espresso machine
By Jefferson Davis
I have been looking for an all-in-one coffee machine and finally found it! Of all the ones in the market I decided on the Talea Touch for a couple of reasons: it's more compact then others and in the past I had good experience with Saeco's smaller espresso maker that worked well for a long time. Fortunately, I didn't read these reviews before I purchased mine from a store or I would have missed the opportunity of a great purchase. I actually like the fact that the reservoir is not too big, by replenishing it often it keeps the water fresh. The coffee is very hot for me, but I always ask for a couple of ice cubes when I travel and get coffee anywhere also. Nice little feature is the tiny wheels under the machine that makes it easy to move. Just today I added the large milk frother....can't wait for that!!
