Jura 13422 Impressa C9 One Touch Automatic Coffee-and-Espresso Center, Black
Product Description
With an exceptionally compact design and user-friendly front-panel controls, this automatic coffee-and-espresso center creates cafe-quality coffee drinks without ever having to move the cup. Simply push a preprogrammed beverage button for one or two coffees, one or two espressos, cappuccino, milk, or hot water. The countertop appliance comes equipped with an insulated 14-ounce thermal stainless-steel milk container, which stays right next to the machine and keeps cold milk cold for up to eight hours. The machine will steam and froth the milk; grind, tamp, and high-pressure brew coffee or espresso; then dispense automatically into the cup. Its commercial-grade conical burr grinder offers six fineness settings for any type of bean--from light to dark roasts, while a separate funnel for pre-ground coffee allows for making no-hassle decaf or flavored coffee drinks. The unit features an 18-bar power pump with a 1450-watt stainless-steel-lined ThermoBlock heating system, and its two-step pre-infusion cycle moistens and conditions ground coffee for maximum flavor extraction with perfect crema topping.
For added convenience, the appliance offers easy-to-use programming functions. Choose from two temperature settings, three strength levels, and volume--one or two cups at a time, from 1 to a full 16 ounces. Turn the rotary dial to make changes during brewing without changing the programmed setting. Plus, the steam output can be set to a certain time for filling cup after cup with the exact same amount of hot steamed or frothed milk, which means no more wasted milk. Even more, selecting from "continuous-on" or "auto-off" from one half-hour to nine hours in one-hour increments makes it possible for the unit to turn on at the programmed time and ensures it stays on for as long as it's needed. A bright 10-digit LED display dialog system gives short, simple instructions like "ready", "heating", "fill water", and "clean unit".
Other useful details include a 64-ounce removable water tank, an 8-ounce bean container, a five-level water-hardness selector, an automatic hot-water rinse cycle that cleans and pre-heats all vital brewing parts, a height-adjustable coffee spout, and an electronic water-level sensor that makes sure the machine never operates without water. Moreover, its Clearyl water-care system removes chlorine, lead, aluminum, and copper for better-tasting coffee, and a special organic additive removes almost all calcium and eliminates decalcifying altogether. The unit also provides electronic sensors that indicate when water or coffee beans need to be added, an automatic cleaning cycle indicator, a "full" indicator for the used coffee container, seven language options in the dialog system, Energy Saving mode to reduce power consumption in stand-by mode, and a separate main power switch. Accessories include a Clearyl water filter, cleaning tablets, a measuring scoop, a water-hardness indicator strip, and a DVD with detailed tips on brewing, frothing methods, and cleaning. UL listed for household use, the coffee-and-espresso center measures 16 by 11 by 13-1/2 inches and carries a limited warranty for two years or 6,000 cups, whichever comes first.

Good But Disappointed also
By Guy J. Churchward
we've had an S9 Jura for over 7 years and made over 6,000 coffees with it. It was a trooper and fantastic but sadly died on us so we wanted a replacement. I checked the specs for the S9 and C9 and seemed they were pretty much the same so for the price difference it felt living with a black and slimmer model with slightly less horsepower was a sensible trade-off.The good;1. Quiet2. Small3. Makes a nice cup of coffee (if administered well)4. Button layout and customization is way easier than the old S9The Bad1. Black is not as attractive as the silver and also shows marks easier2. Water filters are different sizes to the S9 (had a stock so that's a little annoying)3. All the essentials feel twice as small as the S9 and a pain.. the milk container cannot even support two Lattes, the water container is too small and the coffee store is also.4. The One-Touch button makes for a warm and hot coffee so is also a pointless feature IMO.5. Fixed steam spout so with large cups it will be a pain to remove them without spillingWhen we made a coffee with the S9 and new with the C9 we put the coffee in first, fill the milk and 3/4 up we switch to steam and give it a blast for the heat. This on either machine makes a fabulous coffee but negates the value of the one-touch.If I were doing this again, I'd go for either a cheaper model knowing the one-touch is pointless and if budget is the concern OR I'd sucked it in and gone for the S9 for the added capacity.. For me I wish I'd chosen the S9 as the capacity thing will probably grind on me more than anything else.. but the above will give you an idea of variances. All this said, I LOVE Jura, for the years we've had them, they're reliable, provide great service and well worth the investment. I'll begrudgingly live with the C9 knowing I made the wrong choice,.. Hope this helps your decision process..

Convenience + Quality
By E. Bock
I purchased this recently after I returned my unreliable Saeco V'spresso model. This machine has been much more reliable and makes excellent quality espresso/cappuccino with the push of a button. My favorite feature is the frothing system that allows it possible to make a cappuccino without moving the cup. It is much quicker than the traditional steam wand for lazy people like myself. Jura-Capresso seems to have much better customer service and warranties than its competitors as an added bonus.

Gorgeous machine
By Amelia Earhart
This is my second fully automatic espresso maker. The first one was a Jura Espresso E8. They seem to have a life span of about 5 years with very frequent use -- probably 10-15 single cups a day.The Jura-Capresso espresso maker only needs you to feed it with water and espresso beans and empty out the grounds drawer every once in a while. It does every single other thing. At the touch of a button, it grinds the beans to the perfect texture, tamps it to perfection, and brews espresso exactly. Finding espresso beans is always interesting. Right now, my favorite are from a small roaster called Ancora in Wisconsin. This espresso maker prefers beans that are not too dark and oily and never likes flavored beans. French Roasts are good, as are Columbian, for a rich flavor. Lavazza beans are good for everyday use. My only complaint? The espresso is just a little too perfect. It is not the same as sitting in a cafe on a sidewalk in Paris sipping espresso and smoking gauloises. But very few things are.
