On first use of the machine, the motor starts up and water begins leaking all over the place out of the rear of the machine.After 10mins on hold waiting for a customer service agent at Nespresso, then finally getting someone on the phone who proceeded to walk me through various ways to get the machine to leak even further all over the counter top & floor. I was told I could have it sent in for repairs because it appeared to be malfunctioning.... um, no kidding!The process to have it shipped back to their center, inspected, repaired if possible, replaced if not, will take two weeks.Basically, I expected it to work without issue right out of the box and was very disappointed that such a major malfunction would occur. Although this may be an isolated incident, I expected quality control to be higher.

I really wanted this to work, after having read great reviews for this machine as to convenience and taste. The convenience and taste aspects are definitely true - really easy to make, no cleanup, and great tasting espresso. But, the coffee does not come out of the machine hot. I took several measurements between the espresso and lungo brews (I don't use the smallest ristretto brew) and they ranged between 120-130 F. I like my espresso at 180 F. Adding hot milk will help bring up the temp, bu if you are someone who drinks espresso sans milk or cream, you will not enjoy this. You end up having to throw your espresso in the microwave for 20 seconds - definitely inconvenient!

Ok, so it might be early to review this, but i have been researching for 2 years to decide which espresso maker I should get. The Nespresso is a bit harder to find locally and I likely wouldn't have gotten it if a good friend hadn't been telling me for years that he loves his. I was also a bit put off that it is a Nestle brand (just seems weird to me, Nestle and espresso? but maybe that's because of the our US version/impression of Nestle).I love packaging and extra small details (as noted in my review of the Breville Milk Frother I bought at the same time)The ONLY disappointment I have is that I can tell someone else has already opened my Nepresso unit!! The box is a bit dinged and damaged, and the manual has a fold and crease in it. I know, i know. Picky right? But it does make me worry if they just didn't use it? didn't like it? or something was wrong with it. plus i like to keep my boxes around until the machine dies and i like a nice crisp box (yes, again i know. very picky and OCD of me)That said, the packaging was AWESOME!!! so easy to open, little carrying handle, unique presentation. made for a good start.everything was well packaged and safe, but easy to remove. No tugging or tearing. The manual was good, it even comes with a hard case/binder to keep your manuals and paperwork in (could be a bit better design, didn't close and stay closed, won't hold extra info but is so big it should have more paperwork in it to keep it from flopping open. the magnet doesn't hold it all together well)The machine itself is lovely. I love all of the magnetic bits that let you change configuration easily. I really want the extra tray that will hold the Nepresso cups (or my reusable Kcups. haven't tried those out yet!) I love that (after reading the maual) i learned that you can reprogram the 3 top buttons if i later desire to dispense exactly the volume of coffee that i want.The fact that you can swing the water container to different sides makes setting the machine up in the most convenient place without taking up too much room is awesome! And there is a cord wrap underneath that lets you have just the right amount of cordage available but not a bunch extra to try and hide. Oh, and the water container holder has multiple outlets for the cord so when you configure it's placement in relation to the machine, you can the pick the appropriate escape notch for the cord to minimize the cord exposure.The only thing i don't like so far? Having to order 50 capsules at a time on the Nespresso site/app. and you have to order something before getting your "membership" id. But the prices are pretty much consistent no matter where you go and it does make it easier to order cups and accessories should I decide not to use my Kcups as often.I made one coffee this morning with my Breville Milk Frother (3 Roma Ristrettos plus almond milk ) and I don't miss my morning starbucks at ALL!! ok, well, except the friendly people. I may have to start a count down so i know when i have officially borken even on my $5+ morning expense!UPDATE:I am SOOOO glad i started with the Nespresso coffee cups and not my refillable K-cups. The refillable ones were a mess and not something i wanted to deal with in the early morning hours. I have since just committed to emptying the contents of my Nespresso metal cups and recycling them (part of the reason i purchased this is that their cups are not in plastic). I think the Kcups will work fine once i figure them out, but i better fill them up the night before and not in the am when I am jonesin' for my brew!The machine has been a dream since i got it. I love all of the little details, it's ease of use, the well thought out placement and adjustments for the water, cup shelf, etc. I have not purchased a coffee drink since i got this cute little machine. it makes amazing espresso with a great creamy look and taste. I can't believe I waited so long to get one!
